The day of the Colon Hydrotherapy Session
Eating and Drinking protocols
Suggestive modification to diet 1 or 2 days before a colonic increase whole, fibre rich foods such as sweet potatoes, squash, dark green leafy veggies. Stay well hydrated by increasing water, herbal teas or fresh pressed juices. Bone broths and soups are also good choices to stay hydrated. Avoid refined processed food and alcohol as they can contribute to dehydration. Limited meat intake if possible. It is important to avoid eating or drinking at least 2+ hours before your session, to help limit a full gut and bladder. For a more comfortable session it is ideal to have an empty bladder. (Colonoscopy preparation protocol is different please discuss in the consultation this applies)
What to expect during a session
A session is between 60-75 mins depending on the type of session. It is not unusual to experience slight discomfort or mild cramping due to gas pockets in the colon. The colon hydrotherapist will use massage and breathing techniques to ease these new sensations. Which quickly disappears after the session. Techniques utilized small amounts of filter warm water to flow into the colon in increments, gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristalsis action to release unwanted waste without odour or mess. You will be able to resume your day as normal.
limits intake post session
Eliminate coffee, alcohol, sugar, dairy, and processed/ fried food. Eat light meals such as soups, steamed veggies, fruits, smoothies, fresh pressed vegetable or fruit juices for at least 24-48 hours after a colonic. Adding fermented foods containing prebiotics and probiotics can be beneficial to help re-populate health bacteria in the gut. It is important to stay hydrated with water, herbal tea or electrolytes.
